Ever Thought About Building Your Own?

by Alex Stenback on December 9, 2004

Here is a link to one Minnesota blogger’s series of posts chronicling the experience he had in building his own home.

It is an excellent, excellent read and details the(mostly)good, the(some)bad, and the ugly when it comes to building your own home.

From battles with neighbors, to construction loan costs, lost rate-locks, and even dozens of pictures of the house as it is being built, this really has it all. I could write 100,000 words and not be able to relate to you better what this experience is like. If you’ve ever thought about building, or plan to some day, this is a MUST READ. Pure Gold.

Considering building a house? Don’t. Unless of course at least 2 of these 3 criteria apply to you:

1. Money is no object

2. You don’t care about moving into your new home anytime in the next year.

3. You are a masochist and enjoy pain.
