The National Association of Realtors have fired a return salvo at those seeking to eliminate or reduce the mortgage interest deduction. In a press release today, the NAR announced an ad campaign aimed squarely at the heart of a public flush with real estate wealth:
The ad uses a picture of a typical house inside a pie chart with 15 percent of the home sliced off in red to illustrate the percentage loss to the homeowners if the mortgage interest deduction were converted into a tax credit…
As we’ve discussed (more than once), the NAR and other well financed interests in the real estate industry will fight any and all efforts to change this much-cherished deduction, and it looks like they are doing just that by taking this straight to the public.
