Exciting news, gentle readers, because today we kick-off, and are proud to announce, Behind the Mortgage’s first annual Name That Condo™ contest.
Eager to make your indelible mark on the gentrification of South Minneapolis? Ready to be a part of history? Does the thought of one day driving by a building and saying: "See that building? I named it." sound hot? Then this contest is for you – read on for details.

Here’s the deal: Come up with a catchy, edgy, "urbany" name for a new condo conversion in the Whittier Neighborhood in South Minneapolis. The winner, which we’ll choose from the entries, will own a brand-new 2GB iPod Nano. Runner up/honorable mentions will receive a $25.00 gift card from Starbucks or Home Depot. [Note: This is a joint venture of sorts with our man Derrik Dyka of the Condo Bling saga]
Here’s The Catch: This is condo-conversion "vaporware" because we can’t tell you exactly which building it is, or the address, only that it is in the Whittier Neighborhood, near MCAD and Eat Street. The conversion will include three separate buildings, for a total of about 155 units, which will be priced somewhere in the middle to high 100′s. The buildings are not-real-new-yet-not-real old and have a definite late 50′s early 60′s retro feel.
How to Win: Be creative, be clever – the name does not have to have anything to do with the neighborhood, or the area, but certainly can. For example, there’s three buildings, so you could go with something using "Tri" in the name – Tryptic, Trifecta, etc. - (not indicative of the level of creativity we are hoping for.)
We’ll post running updates on the contest, and announce the winner on Tuesday February 21st (that’s two whole weeks kids) So submit your entry and ask questions in the comments below or via email, and be sure to at least give a valid email address so we can contact you.
