The much anticipated Whole Foods/mixed use condoplex planned to occupy the Downtown Jaguar site has been unanimously approved by the Minneapolis planning commission.
And it is an ambitious project, with 290 units, underground parking, a 75,000 square ft. Whole Foods Market, 7,500 feet of other retail space, and [not making this up] a full acre of "greenspace" 30 feet above street level, where Whole Foods staff will tend to a herd of goats, who will be treated to daily therapeutic massages before their milk is lovingly, gently, extracted and bottled for your epicurean delight.
OK, the goat stuff was made up. But still.
When will it open? From the Twin Cities Business Journal:
Milliken plans to break ground on his Minneapolis project, called Two
Twenty Two, next spring when the Jaguar dealership relocates.
Construction will take a little more than two years, with the project
expected to open in summer 2009.
