Our Long National Nightmare is Over: Trump Mortgage Closes Down

by Alex Stenback on August 8, 2007

We mocked The Donald when it launched, so we feel obligated to drop a quick update on it’s demise, even though Trump Mortgage never really was a mortgage outfit of any consequence whatsoever, what with the firm headed by a guy who faked his resume and all.

From this:

"From my standpoint, it’s tangible; it’s solid; it’s beautiful; it’s artistic. I just love real estate." - The Donald

To this:

…the outfit never came close to reaching its financial goals…Instead of doing $3 billion in deals as promised, it barely reached the $1 billion level, [a] report said.

As a final aside, Trump’s old Spy Magazine moniker, "The Short Fingered Vulgarian" is a uniquely apt description of at least 50% of the mortgage hucksters, (that are now, hopefully, on their way out the door.) Sort of makes this like the departure of the titular head of sketchball mortgage lenders everywhere.

Are you saying that as an apprentice, the Donald failed, was fired, or soon forgotten?

First trump Mortgage and then American Home Mortgage..I doubt how many more will follow them as being unable to cope up with the subprime mortgage crisis.

So is it absolutely impossible to get a mortgage right now? That’s how it sounds!

I’m scared to move back to MN!

Say it aint’ so…Trump never loses….ever. After all, he’s not a “loser” like everyone else he comes in contact with.

THe funny part is how he played down his affiliation and ownership when the company went belly-up. Just like his show The Apprentice.

Typical Trump.
